Common questions about the ATB Monthly Income Portfolio?

The ATB Monthly Income Portfolio is a diversified mutual fund designed to provide a steady stream of monthly distributions while maintaining long-term growth potential.
It is built for investors with a low-to-medium risk tolerance who need regular income, want a low-maintenance "all-in-one" fund, and have a medium- to long-term investment horizon.
The portfolio targets a 4% annualized distribution, paid out monthly. Net realized capital gains are distributed annually in December.
Yes. You have full flexibility over how you receive your monthly distributions from your ATB Monthly Income Portfolio. You can elect to have the cash paid directly into your account to supplement your ongoing income, or you can choose to have it automatically reinvested to purchase additional units of the portfolio and compound your long-term growth.
The portfolio offers a balanced, diversified split of equities and fixed income. It invests in high-quality corporate and government bonds, as well as Canadian, US and International dividend-paying stocks.
GICs and savings accounts offer fixed, guaranteed returns but often fail to outpace inflation. The ATB Monthly Income Portfolio invests in the market, offering potential for long-term capital growth alongside regular monthly distributions. It is also designed to be more tax-efficient. Unlike the fully taxable interest earned from a GIC, this portfolio may generate income through sources like Canadian eligible dividends, which receive favorable tax treatment in Canada, which can help maximize your after-tax return.2
While all three use our multi-manager sub-advisory model, they serve distinct purposes in a wealth strategy:

Compass Portfolios: "All-in-one" foundational portfolios designed to balance overall growth and risk across a wide range of global asset classes.

ATBIS Pools: Focused asset class strategies (such as dedicated US Equity or Fixed Income exposure) used to manually customize or tilt a specific segment of your portfolio.

ATB Monthly Income Portfolio: A specialized "all-in-one" fund optimized specifically to generate a steady, targeted monthly distribution (targeting a 4% annualized yield) rather than focusing strictly on total overall growth.
